Cold climate, beautiful garden
Today we ’re visiting with Matthew Kunnari , who gardens in chilly Zone 4 in northern Minneapolis .
Grass blossom are wind cross-pollinate , so they miss the showy large petal of those that call for to attractinsect or birdie pollinators . They are still beautiful , however . These braggart bluestem flower ( Andropogongerardii , Zones 4–9 ) understandably show the dangling anther shedding pollen .
Allium‘Millenium ’ ( Zones 4–8 ) is a fantasticperennial , and the bee clearly agree . Here they are engaged working the efflorescence for pollen andnectar .

Here ’s a position of the back garden from above in summertime .
ocean Charles Hardin Holley ( Eryngiumplanum , Zones 5–9 ) is abiennialor short - survive perennial . What a coolheaded floral display !
The ocean holly looks pretty unbelievable in aflower arrangementas well .

The winters in Minnesota are long and inhuman , but this is the reward — everything bursting into bloom and maturation at once , with a beautifulcrabapple(Malushybrid , Zones 3–8 ) in full bloom on the left .
Pasque flower ( Pulsatillasp . , Zones 4–8 ) bursts into bloom ahead of time in the spring , and the efflorescence are followed by silkyseed headsthat are intimately as beautiful .
Liatris ( Liatrisspicata , Zones 3–8)is a wondrous summer - blooming recurrent indigen to the eastern one-half of North America . Here the distinctive magenta shape is mixed with a white-hot variant .

The genus Liatris growing throughout the garden looks stunning .
Crabapples are typically planted for their natural spring floral show , but how is this for some incrediblefall colour ?
