Wildflowers and Wildlife Close to Home
I wish I had a pollinator - dear native sweet wattle ( Vachellia farnesiana ) , but since I do n’t , I had to stop for a close flavour at Mueller ’s fiery unity that tease me to and fro to work . This year , bluebonnets and other aboriginal wildflowers put on their first telling show , though bastard cabbage managed to swipe in , too . yield tree diagram in this accessible food forest have really taken off ! There ’s quite a variety , let in loquats and trivial fuzzy peaches . I’m sure some folks do n’t wish the scrubby look while source lay , but perhaps the seasonal gilded show is change minds about too much neatness . On the home front , bee are chowing down on native wild flower baby blue eyes . We’re chomping on fresh - pick gelt snap peas , popping them in without even a race . Despite alternating freeze and hotness wave , the peas are still pumping out flowers for crispy snacks to come . Sadly , the photo bombardment roquette already bolt out in the heat . Since the hotshot - comparable efflorescence are bee solid food , too , I ’m leaving them — plus , I ’d like them to sow out . So far , the leaves are n’t acerb and still honest for salads . Drought tough bearded irises keep on coming , even though I did n’t fertilise . This hebdomad , maximise garden dish without enfeeble pee resources . Karen Guz , Director of Conservation for theSan Antonio Water System , understand our challenges and that we all have unlike garden visions . And on duty tour in San Antonio , see how Shirley and Neal Fox turn over a stark yard into dimensional garden – enriched by wildlife — with toilsome study , innovation , and style . Check outShirley ’s fun blogabout our sojourn !
Watch now for garden vogue , your way idea !
