Even so , I was curious what YOU think of Garden Therapy . I sent out a sight in the drop and get a immense number of responses . I was literally overwhelmed by the number of you who learn time from your daily life-time to post your persuasion and idea . It took me a few weeks to gain my composure and really show through each response and take it all in . I did eventually read it all and used the feedback to set the design and direction of Garden Therapy and our new tagline “ better living through flora . ” You , like me , love life plant and see the value they hold . In the coming twelvemonth , we will not just be writing about plant , but integrating them into our lives in meaningful way . And a HUGE Thank You to everyone who participate . My heart is bursting with gratitude .

As if all that was n’t enough , in September I went to New York to attendBetter Homes & Gardens ’ Stylemaker Eventfor the first time . I did n’t expect to be a huge fan of New York as unremarkably I ’d rather be in a muted , peaceful setting than a great city , but by the death of the head trip I was in love .

It started withthe hotel I stayed at in Brooklyn , which brought the homey feel of the garden indoors with live walls , houseplants , edible planter , and even a few resident insects to keep me company . The Stylemaker eventitself was wonderful . I learn so much from the workshop and training , and in between those I took part in some more originative activities like digit knitting and bar baking .

I toured theNew York Botanical Garden , which was full of breathtaking Chihuly glass sculptures , exuberant tropic plant life , succulents and cacti of every shape and size conceivable , and naturally planted perennials . My preferent part of the NYBG was theChildren ’s Adventure Garden , which was full of huge grinningpumpkinhead scarecrowsfor fall . There were batch of insect enjoying native plants , and the whole place felt wild , gratuitous , and innate .

While in New York , I walkedthe High Line , a 1.45 knot urban fleeceable space in Manhattan along what used to be a railway line . It was full of native plant and buzzing insects all living happily alongside urban commuters and multitude having their good afternoon coffee berry . The High Line was an inspiring object lesson of how nature and the city can coexist beautifully .

Back home in Vancouver , I got to collaborate with awful local chef Andrea Carlson to put on agarden - to - table eventfor local foodies . I supplied Andrea with my own garden green groceries and she transformed it into gourmet fare like a radicchio and nectarine tree salad with garlic yogurt and grapefruit vinaigrette and peach cocktails with Bourbon dynasty , honey , and fresh sage . The food was AMAZING and I get to meet ( and re - play ) many interesting mass whose careers orb around unripened living and eating unused , organic food .
