Winter doesn’t mean the garden is over
Dale Dailey shared these images of his garden in the winter .
The first of December in central Michigan and the garden is still giving back . This dawn I walked around our garden and found , despite the recent freezing weather and snow , several beautiful circumstance . Our alpine garden has several plant that cover with the low temperature very well .
Opuntia imbricatavar.arborescens‘White Tower ’ ( Zones 5–10).This cactus had an amazing vertical tower , but it break up late in the season .

Opuntia humifosa(prickly pear , Zones 4–10 )
Yucca filamentosa‘Color Guard’(Zones 5–10 )
There is still some smart as a whip foliage very much active even after weeks of freeze atmospheric condition and snow . Cyclamen hederifolium(ivy - leaved cyclamen , zone 5–8 ) peak in the fall and then produce these patterned leaves that stay up all winter before going dormant again in the springtime .

Hellebores ( Helleborus orientalis , Zones 4–8 ) are best loved for their late winter / other saltation flush , but their leaf can put up a passably ripe exhibit in the wintertime as well . In the can is a dwarf concolor true fir ( Abies concolor‘Compacta ’ , Zones 3–7 ) .
The folio are go , but the Charles Edward Berry from a burning bush(Euonymus alatus , Zones 4–9 ) provide a beautiful backcloth for our peace pole .
Winter is a great meter to probe the bark of our trees , specially this paperbark maple(Acer griseum , Zones 4–8 ) .

And lastly , even the hardscape of the garden seems more beautiful in a moisture , snow-clad mise en scene . So my suggestion is to stop stargaze about natural spring . Go outside and savour your garden today .
