As in past years, the Slow Food Nations festival featured special displays to encourage kids to eat their vegetables.

Slow Foods Nationshad its third one-year fete in Denver , Colo. , during one spectacular food - centrical retentive weekend in July . The festival featured more than 130 total events that admit workshops and tastings , special meals , and over 200 speaker and chefs .
The democratic Taste Marketplace included more than 70 vendors where 30,000 attendees sampled foods that came from around the country . While the supergrass - feed boeuf , hot sauces , specialty cheeseflower and flavourous olive oils appealed to adult taste buds , there were tasty options for tiddler , too .
Because children exemplify the next coevals of vegetable nurseryman , Slow Food Nations makes it a point to include them in the one-year food celebration .
In 2017 aspecial children ’s gardenincluded raised layer fill with herbs , fruit , vegetables and heyday . A corn grinder offered an interactive chemical element .
This yr ’s edition of the festival also provided kids with their own Slow Food Children ’s Garden . Under the colorfully decorated collapsible shelter , young gardener got a chance to see the food cycle that go with seeds and ends up on plates .
The kid - sized garden video display had give - away seed packets , temporary tattoo of vegetables and a food monstrance table . Another display showed how food refuse and plant passementerie can be turned into a worthful soil amendment for growing more intellectual nourishment .
Chef Ann Cooper started theChef Ann Foundation(CAF ) to assist schooltime communities make healthier food and better lunchroom environs . The Foundation “ carries out that imagination by actively support school districts nationwide through subsidisation program and by providing tried and tested dick for schooling food change , ” agree to the CAF website .
The Chef Ann Foundation offers programs like Get Schools Cooking , the Lunch Box , Project Produce , and Salad Bars to Schools .
There were many other opportunities for kids to enjoy Slow Food Nations , from snacking on samples of microgreens and Honey Bunchies vigour bars to reading baby ’s gardening books in the bookstall .
