Gardening
allow ’s see if we can get a unexampled meme going . It ’s a kinship group of one at the moment , yours sincerely . My intention with this is to post on a Saturday , clue ’s in the name , six things going on in the garden . Could be anything – an interesting plant , job that you ’re proud of with , a projection , terrace pots in bloom of youth , neatly stripy lawn , a succeeder , a failure , flowers , veggie , fruit , anything at all . Well , almost anything . Six things , photos essential , sententious remarks optional butde rigueur .
So for the first of this serial publication , here are my Six on Saturday .

1 ) Wisteria . I plant this as a teeny works 6 or 7 twelvemonth ago and have give suck it through growth , sort of take it up and along a treillage . I have n’t always pruned it properly , but this year I have . In July last year , the long flexible ontogeny was cut back to 5 leaves from the base , and again in February to two leaves from the base . This encourages plenty of flower bud to form in the spring . It is looking pretty in effect compared to previous yr .
2 ) Black elder , or Sambucus nigra . I pruned this back to the framework in the winter . At the metre I believe it was quite brutal and was a little worried it might not answer well . I need n’t have worry though , it has start banana already , set on more than two feet of new outgrowth .
3 ) Lilac . This is a gnome miscellanea , ‘ Josee ’ and it ’s in efflorescence now . As I lean in to get a closeup of the blossom I got a rash blast of perfume . It smells fab .

4 ) Fatsia japonica . I wanted a large - ish shrub to go in a shadowy corner , the gent at my local garden center recommend this . It ’s in its 3rd year now , and has grow some , but not as much as I ’d have liked . There is raw ontogeny though , so it should put on a bit of peak . I care the shape of the leaf , and it is evergreen so provide some require form and interest in the off calendar month .
5 ) Dogwood , genus Cornus alba . This is an old shrub now , I ’ve had it for 15 class or so . I had n’t pruned it for a unspoilt few year and it was getting unruly , but more importantly the stems were a dull brown colour rather than the bright red that is the main ground for imbed it in the first place . I chop up it in good order back to the tree trunk / model in late wintertime . It has done nothing since , until recently . There are now legion new stems beginning to show their face . Hopefully they will render a worthwhile show in the winter .
6 ) Rose ‘ danse de feu ’ . This is a mounting rise up I ’ve had for a while , it looks majuscule and is quite happy in it ’s shady placement . There are lots of buds ready to pop for this year ’s display . I also have cuttings that I deal last wintertime , 2 of which are nowrootedand potted up . I may get heyday from them this year , but if not next year will be cracking .

So that ’s my six for today , now allow ’s see if I can keep this going . If you select to participate in Six on Saturday , please just add a input to this blog spot with a link back to yours , and perchance add a link back to this blog in yours .
I ’ll be back with another Six on Saturday next week .
