SixOnSaturday

Earlier in the week it got down to just 5c above freeze . Not quite a rime but a few of the more raw industrial plant are looking a piece grumpy . First frost date here is typically mid - October so I have a turn of metre before thing start drop dead off due to rime . Signs of fall abound , a few leave begin to rick , cooler weather condition , dour eve , dew on the locoweed and whatnot . The other mansion of the autumn , or rather of a busy summertime , are the dreadful state of the working end of the garden , where I have throw out or bad , neglected , pots and other detritus . numb or dying plant life , break dance plastic stuff , plant labels , onetime compost suitcase , bits of wood I recollect might have arrive in utile , that sort of matter . I started the self-aggrandising fall tidy - up last weekend but still have plenty to do . I ’m afraid to say that I found many dry out - out chaff of plants , mostly transpose seedlings , that did n’t survive the raging patch sooner in the summer . It ’s probably my garden telling me I do n’t have elbow room for them all . What does it know ?

Still , sizeable or not , sentence for Six on Saturday – six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything – a plant , a flower , a plan , a failure , a critter , a pest , a mystery , anything at all . Join in !

Here are my Six for this calendar week .

1 – Last class I dug up a unpaid worker mallow growing in among the other plants . I do n’t mind the bloom but find the plant to be untidy . Besides , I did n’t implant it there , such impudence ! Anyhow , it has had the last joke , I either did n’t get it all , or it dropped some cum before I removed it . It ’s baaaaack !

2 – Nipponese sea anemone ‘ honorine jobert ’ . Some sea anemone are prone to spread , but honerine is pretty well behaved . Which is plaguey , I would n’t object to it broadcast a bit . They do n’t seem to have enjoyed the dry weather condition so the flower have been a bite lacklustre .

3 – Allium seed heads . Some of these have survived being knocked over or accidentally pulled up . I think they look quite architectural so I ’ve left these in . That ’s my excuse and I ’m sticking to it .

4 – Potentilla ‘ Danaus plexippus ’s velvet ’ . I develop these from seed last year or the year before and have quite a few sprinkle about . It starts off well , the foliage is quite attractive , then lots of blossom bud appear , then I am underwhelmed . The prime keep coming but are very belittled , so the overall effect is limited . The exhausted blooms and the spindly stems they model on look a moment untidy . But who am I to talk . Up close , the flowers are pretty .

5 – Linaria ‘ springside white ’ . A supposedly white physique of butter-and-eggs . I grew from germ this year . Some are indeed white , but some are the more normal purple . Those bees , never reproducible .

6 – genus Heuchera ‘ purple castle ’ – flower . I grow these for their leafage human body and vividness . I bought a couplet of large industrial plant then promptly divide them . This one is in a planted down the side of the family . I thought it would be quite fishy but in fact it is in full Dominicus more or less all day . The heuchera have protested a picayune at this but a good drink normally sorts them out . They have been flowering exquisitely for a couple of weeks now .

Have a neat gardening weekend , do n’t forget to check back in as more radio link get added during the day .

I ’ll be back next weekend with another Six on Saturday .
