I have n’t written in a while as the planting season has been upon us . Now that the danger of a freeze is basically over ( never say never tho ) I ’ve been busy first weeding the vegetable garden and now constitute the veggie garden . Most everything will be in by close of this week .

In add-on to part of my garden being an Italian garden , I just finished up a unexampled specter garden . I have a semi - suspicious area where a shed and juniper shade early in the sidereal day but I take shade from the intense sun in the afternoon . I put subtlety textile from Home Depot , over the top of an arbor to shade off some recent time of year nerveless harvest still in the ground like peas and Fava beans . Also planted some heat tolerant wampum under rowing cover yesterday .
TOMATOES : 54 were transplanted in on June 5th in rampart of water ( WOWs ) . Many of them are now peek out of the WOWs and they necessitate to be taken off . I put quarrel cover around the cage and over the top ( act as a physical barrier ) to keep the fear beet leafhopper from the industrial plant .
LETTUCE : Last night I planted some estrus tolerant dinero andVioletta pak choiin the fresh specter garden .

ARTICHOKE : More of an ornamental here but so beautiful . Transplanted yesterday .
BEANS - Borlotti - Lamon : An Italian variety of a wry bean . Pre - started the seeds inside . Coming up now and will be ready to transplant this hebdomad . Pole variety .
bean : Emerite - pole assortment of a Gallic haricot bean . Pick when pencil thinly .

RUNNER BEANS - terminal beans - Painted Ladyand a Chartreuse folio variety ofScarlet Runner . Beautiful flowers and you’re able to eat the beans when young or save for dry bean plant recipes like soups .
PEPPERS : I wait to constitute white pepper till June 1 till it really warms up and we are now in the 50 ’s at nite so all capsicum will go in this hebdomad under course cover . Varieties admit : Shishito , Jimmy Nardello , Caribbean Seasoning , Poblano(for chile relleno),Pasilla(for jetty sauce),Aji Amarillo Grande , and Baby Aji Amarillaboth from Peru .

CHARD / KALE : Lacinato , Vates Curlyvarieties of kale andArgentatachard . I have infant plant to put in this week . Coulda , shoulda already be in the ground but not enough time .
heyday : Many flowers by seed - Cosmos , Zinnias , Nasturtiums , Asylum , daybreak resplendence , different sunflowers . Calendula and Marigoldsare transplants .
summertime SQUASH : Costata Romanescozucchini , Bennings Green Tintpatty pan . Seeds sound in the ground last week . A few kill up under the row cover .
WINTER SQUASH : ButternutRogosa Violina “ Gioia” . cum in the land today .
GIANT PUMPKIN : This time I put seeds in the ground instead of pre - growing them . Not up yet .
CORN : Glass GemINDIAN CORN . Not in yet . Hopefully this hebdomad .
ONIONS / LEEKS - transplants go in this week . Very late going in - will see how they do .
BEETS - Chioggavariety . Seeds went in this calendar week . Will get gloaming harvest from them .
CARROTS : Atomic Red and Cosmic Purplewent in this workweek for crepuscle harvest .
CUCUMBERS : Seeds go in this calendar week around teepees to grow up . Varieties include : feeding : Poona Kheera . PICKLING : Parisian(cornichon),Boothsby Blonde(Bread n butter ) , andRussian Pickling(dill ) .
STILL TO COME THIS hebdomad : I ’m going to try a short season miscellanea of Sweet potatoes called Beauregard ( 90 days t0 harvest ) . Getting slips of it in ring armour .
