Despite the name , the parrot tulip is no floral emulator . With its feathery petals and dazzling color , the parrot tulip speak a language all its own , boldly proclaiming its identity from the stock tulip . In fact , parrot tulip are often misguided for peonies because of their large cup - shaped blooms and ruffled edges . Most miscellany are bi - colored , and some also have a delicate bouquet .

WHERE TO PLANT THEM
Parrot tulips fill the spring garden with showy grain and color , specially when used in the border or imbed in group . Plant parrot tulip bulbs in the fall in a sheltered spot , away from high malarky and extreme temperatures . The bulbs can also be planted out of doors in container or force in mess indoors for winter bloom .
GROWING TIPS
