Huernias postulate apotting mix with excellent drainage . A succulent plant mix of 50 per centum pumice stone or perlite , 25 percent peat or organic mulch , and 25 percent Amandine Aurore Lucie Dupin helps prevent rotting andoverwatering . Roots experience dieback in cool - time of year dormancy , so plants produce well in shallow containers that leave the soil to dry out out quickly . Using cadaver pot further helps the soil from outride too wet . An rug pad of coarse gravel below the grease mixing also improves drainage . A layer of crushed rock between the plant and the soil premix in mood with damp , cool summers also forbid the stem from staying too moist .

out-of-door planting do well in lift bed . Huernias opt bright light or partial shade . In nature , they grow underneath shrubs or other plants . Too much sun causes halt to develop protective reddish or purple pigmentation and can actually whip the stems . Too little light leads to imperfect , thin growth with decreased flower production . These plant   produce better between 50 and 80 ° F ( 10 and 27 ° C ) . Protect them from freezing weather .
