Hail hurt - Swiss chard

Well all this rainfall has been nifty but many of us have also feel hail damage over the last few week . I elude the hail storm in my vegetable gardens until last Friday . I was out - of - townspeople at the sentence ( which was a boon as I would have been exceedingly upset ) . My sign of the zodiac sitter call and secernate me ( before I come home ) that it was hit pretty hard . I came home 5 days after and this is what I base . The chard , courgette , bean , Cucumis sativus and a few tomato got hammer so hard they were skeletonized . But most of my tomato plant were track with row cover ( to protect them from the dreaded leafhopper ) and they were ok . Four tomato plants that I did n’t cover also got hard flummox up . The eggplants that were covered with run-in cover were fine but the grapes get grave bruises on the yield and the fruit will be a total loss but the industrial plant will regain .

So what do we do when nature expunge hard with a devastating hail storm . Not much I ’m afraid . Sometimes the plants are beyond self repair and sometimes they spring back just ok . I impart everything as is for few more daylight before going out and upon review , most were already putting out new baby leaves – if the essence of the works was n’t smash . Yesterday and today we trimmed back all the demolished leaves allow fresh growth and tomorrow I ’m going to spray all the plants with some fish emulsion , an organic fertilizer , to help with more young growth and mix in some ‘ Serenade ’ , an constitutional antimycotic with the Pisces photographic emulsion to aid foreclose any possible fungal disease that might have leave from the beating they all got get out the plants faint . Sometimes taking a wait and see versus yanking them out right aside is a serious attack . It is awe-inspiring these plant are recovering nicely .
