Ca n’t let my recent sojourn to the Big Easy go by without report about two really fun places for tyke ( both young and old)–if you live there – don’t miss these garden . If you are a visitor or aspirant , put these on your must - do list .

I love visiting children ’s gardens . We are fortunate to have many of them spread out across the land . I always look for them when I am off visit a new post ; mostly they are at arboretums and botanical gardens , however I have found great ones at university and even community garden .

The Lucy C. Roussel Discovery Garden at Longue View Garden was built in 1998 . This interactional garden was designed for children of all ages – it has a Secret Garden , raised seam with herbs , vegetables and flowers , colorful sculptures , places to sit for parent , friendly and informative signage and lots of hands - on bodily process . Kids need to be able-bodied to match and feel plant , spirit and even taste them ( with adult supervision ) .

There is a giant fencing underwrite with hanging watering cans so kids can be helpful and water thirsty industrial plant , however they can also get wet and physical . There is a large , cleared , sandy area with shovel and wagons and building blocks for construction ; an empty outer space with profligate for raking foliage or George Sand and a big sandpit with trowels and buckets . While the discovery garden is a daytime place , the seasonal displayCelebration in the Oakswhich is located at NOLA City Park is a nightime , holiday light festival . We took the streetcar to City Park , so it was a bit of a walk of life to the Celebration light show , however there were all sort of light displays throughout the park . I especially liked the sparkle located on the pee because of the reflexion , which made them in two ways impressive .

Downtown NOLA the streets are festooned and brightly get down – all of the huge thenar tree trunk are wind in illumination – which is pretty spectacular also .
