Flowers, Food, Community: CTG Season Premiere

So , what is a solid food forest ? essentially , it ’s a 7 - layer agricultural strategy where plants from trees to groundcovers support each other . Volunteers dug out Bermuda grass — an ongoing process — and excavated soil to work up berm and swale , nourished with compost . Cover craw like Austrian pea plant put up seasonal atomic number 7 . On groundbreaking in 2015 , volunteer planted over 100 tree with Hiram Ulysses Grant fromTreeFolks , American Forests and many others . With a City of Austin grant , they installed an ADA approachable track from the Rebekah Baines Johnson Center , independent living for seniors .
