too soon this hebdomad we polish off ramp up a cattle board chicken tractor from 2x4s and 2 cattle panels .
I talk about the pros and cons as we build and test it .
After posting my anatomy , my admirer David shared pictures of a single cattle venire Gallus gallus tractor he ’d build up – I have to deal it with you too !

The latter two pictures are the cattle jury chicken tractor in progression , the top trope is it fetch up .
I ask David how he decided on the programme and he allege he just eyed it out and startle work up . That ’s my sort of construction ! Except his tractor search in effect than most of what I build .
One change I would make on this designing is adding hardware cloth instead of the spacious wire fencing on the outside . That will keep it free from belittled predators such as rats .

The principal job with the cattle panel volaille tractor I built is the weight . It ’s very hard , but too heavy . It ’ll work , especially now that I figured out how to sum up wheel , but it ’s not idea . I infer the PVC design better now . The next one will belike be made from PVC .
What ? Another wimp tractor ?
Yes . You see , we had some new friends arrive yesterday . In a box .

Hey guys , let ’s get out of that obeisance and into the client way , okay ?
Wow . There are a lot of you !
Yes – we baffle chick in the mail . We buy fromValley Farms Hatchery in North Alabamaand were very proud of with how happy and healthy the wench are . The order is a combining of product browned testis layers and Red Broilers for meat . The latter can be raised to adulthood and reproduced , unlike Cornish Cross birds . They take longer to hit a good debacle weight but the heart and soul is reportedly well tasting .

I am bet ahead to consider how they grow ( and tasting ) . We ’ve eaten Cornish Crosses in the yesteryear , raised on gage , and base them to be delicious . We ’ve also eaten hens and rooster from various non - meat breeds and enjoyed them . I do n’t mind a sturdy chicken , as the flavor of a loose - ranging bird is significantly better than anything you may buy at the grocery store .
In fact , I find grocery store chicken disgusting and commonly refuse to eat it . Homegrown is a dissimilar creature .
Finally , I am pleased to foretell the passing ofWINNING THE WAR ON WEEDS by John Moody , published by Good Books .

This is the first book we ’ve released by an author other than myself . John is an expert on lowly - scale farming and land management . The playscript is well - worth owning and I extremely recommend it . We are quite proud of he trust us to republish it in a new edition .
But enough for today – I have to go tend the chicken . Bawk bawk .
